SATURDAY SPANKINGS

Hello everyone.  Hope you had a great week.  I just finished up with the June A-Z challenge - that was a hoot.  Can't believe I'm posting again.  Today I chose eight sentences from a current WIP - just to mix it up.

This story is about a working gal who goes to visit her sister and meets her brother-in-law's brother-in-law.  Try saying that quickly. Their first meeting wasn't very auspicious and she's hesitant when he ask her to accompany him on a horse buying trip, but Melody is nothing if not intrepid.

“What kind of jeans should I wear?” she asked him sarcastically.

“Sass, she’s giving me sass.  I like that,” he told her.

“Believe me, I’m good at sass,” she replied.  “but I’m not sure I could ride again so soon.”

He laughed.  “I meant a ride in the truck not on horseback.”  She laughed back.

“In that case, sure.  Of course, bumpy dirt roads aren’t involved, are they?” He laughed again. She has a great sense of humor; I like that, he said to himself.

When she got in the truck the next day, he had placed a pillow on her side of the truck seat.  She really laughed when she saw it and commented that she hadn’t remembered how bad horseback riding could hurt.

“I’m not sure what hurts worse, my thighs or my butt,” she told him.

Also, this week is the SCI SPANKS, lots of great stories and great prizes.  Click on the picture on the side to take you to the participating sites.

THE GAUNTLET

Back in May sometime,
Celeste Jones challenged bloggers to participate in a challenge to post a letter of the alphabet every day in June.  I picked up the gauntlet and yesterday was Z.  I DID IT!!

I love how we all did something different.  So creative, I especially applaud those bloggers that mentioned the different books in every letter available, unfortunately my brain doesn't work that way and I had all I could do to come up with the letter of the day.

Thanks to Celeste for challenging us and thank you readers who stopped by every day and commented.  You know who you are and for being such loyal followers, I will send you a copy of one of my books.  Let me know if you want an old one, or a new one that is yet to be published.

For those of you who stopped by and didn't comment, thanks for visiting.  I know I tried to get to all bloggers at least once and didn't always have time for comments but I enjoyed visiting nonetheless.

Hope you come back and visit again.

Z

HOORAY, I DID IT - I COMPLETED THE A-Z CHALLENGE IN 26 DAYS.

Kept trying to think of z words.  There's zany, zero, zipper and zilch.  What do you say about zany, I have a friend who's zany, but then you don't know her so I can't write about her.  Zero was a big fat 0 and zipper - well other than it goes up and down and keeps your clothes on and sometimes your mouth closed, what else is there to say.  All leading me to zilch.

Then I remembered something I used to do.

ZIP LOCK OMELETS.  They are easy to put together,  You can even assemble in the bag if you wish instead of a bowl for even less clean up. You can prep while making dinner the night before and then you're ready for breakfast the next day.

Break and scramble two eggs.  Add any ingredients you want (peppers, onions, cheese, bacon bits, etc.).  Pour into a quart Zip Lock Bag, bleed as much air as possible out of bag and seal tight.  Refrigerate for later use or for immediate use,  pop into a pot of boiling water.  Cook for 10 to 13 minutes (you'll know when they are done).  Remove bag from water and pop onto plate.  Add a little fruit and voila.Hardly any cleanup too.

Oh, Oh, Oh, I just thought of two more Z's - Zippo, like in zippo lighter.

And  Zephyr a name assigned to many things - trains, motor bikes, name of towns, but the one that came to mind was the west wind known as a zephyr.

Also, there is ZZYYXX Road, somewhere along I-10 between California and Nevada. Always remember seeing the sign.  I think it is a road to nowhere or the end of the road but it was something that always caught my eye.

Enough - thanks for stopping by and hope you enjoyed the challenge as much as I.

A big thank you to Celeste Jones who came up with this idea.

Years

This month last YEAR, I became a published writer.  The word author still seems a little daunting to me but I do accept writer.

On my birthday this YEAR, I will enter into another decade.  It's scary when I think about the number but then remember it's only a number.

This YEAR, my oldest grandson graduated from elementary school and is on his way to manhood.  He no longer sounds like a boy, but a young man and every time I hear his voice I am reminded that YOUTH is fleeing.

And guess what else, at the end of this month one half of this YEAR has passed down the drain and Christmas is six months from today.  Isn't that enough to scare YOU silly?

X

The absolute only thing I can think of for X is X marks the spot, xeriscape, xerox, xanadu, xbox and xanax.

THIS IS THE X SPOT
(not to be confused with the Gspot)
Xeriscaping (less commonly known as xeroscape) is landscaping and gardening that reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental water from irrigation.
THE DOCUMENT COMPANY (and the company that funded our retirement.)

XANADU - the capital of Kublai Khan's Yuan empire

...The Xbox is a series of video game consoles developed by Microsoft and if you play enough you may need Xanax, the drug that helps with panic and anxiety.

WHAT

WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, WHO, WHY those are questions all Writers try to answer in whatever they are writing.  I have always heard that those are the first things taught in journalism class.  I don't know, never been in a journalism class and only know what I've read in books and seen in movies.

WHAT - is that this is the 23rd day of the A to Z Bloggers Challenge.

WHEN - every day from June 1 to June 26.

WHERE - Right here on this blog and on other participating blogs.

WHO - Anyone who wants to join in the challenge

WHY - that's up to you, it may be to increase readership, or to connect with old friends or to make new ones.

WOMAN - the best W of all.  Where would men be without us - sometimes I think certain factions forget this fact.  Petula Clark's song of the 70's, I AM WOMAN, reverberates in my head everytime I hear that women are soft, or not as strong, or smart or whatever.

V for Vacation

The challenge is almost over - we're on to V and the only word that comes to mind is vacation.  For me vacation means warm sunny weather, ocean breezes and beaches, preferably transported to these places on the deck of a ship.  We love cruises and nothing says vacation quite like a cruise - it's all available or not, it's up to you.  We always opt for a balcony because we can prop open the door at night and listen to the slap of the water against the hull, it is so soothing.  I never care where we go because I don't care if I get off the ship.  Not that the places aren't lovely, but I love the solitude of the ship when most of the passengers have gone ashore; it's almost like your own private yacht complete with servants.  What's not to like?

Of course, the places the ship docks are lovely too and if I've liked them well enough, we've made it a point to return for a longer visit. Haven't been disappointed yet.

How about you, what's your favorite vacation?

U for Understanding and Saturday Spankings

In addition to it being Saturday and it's Saturday Spanking time, it's also the 21st day of the A to Z Blogging Challenge.

So, the 21st letter of the alphabet is U and my word for today is Understanding.

That's exactly what Juan is trying to get Maria to do.  Understand. And because it's not only SS, I am allowed more than eight sentences - not that I always observe the rules anyway.

Taming Maria

TAMING MARIA is set in California during the 1940's amidst a backdrop of vineyards and ranches and has two childhood sweethearts destined to become lovers. The couple face hardship, adventure, personal tragedy and long periods of separation...but there are some things in life worth waiting for.

In this scene, the Japanese have attacked Pearl Harbor and Juan is trying to explain that eventually he will have to join the service. She is totally against it and he is trying to reason with her.  Reason is something that Maria has great difficulty with and Juan knows this all to well and also how to get her to UNDERSTAND.

"I know you. I can hear it in your voice. You have already made your decision, it's just a
matter of time before you take off. You have it all worked out in your head. Maybe you just planned to send me a telegram telling me. What am I supposed to do, just sit here and wait? Suppose you don't come back. Did you ever think of that?"

He knew she was just getting started and he wanted to diffuse the situation. "Maria, try to
understand."

"I don't want to understand. We have just announced our engagement. I don't want to be
engaged to someone who is not around. This should be a happy time and we should be making plans to be together. Not you off somewhere dangerous while I sit here and worry whether or not you'll get yourself killed. Maybe I should give you back your ring. Maybe you should just leave now."

He took hold of her arm. "Stop it, stop it right now!."

"And if I don't?"

"Then I am going to take you over my knee and give you a good spanking. This is about
more than just us. Stop being so pigheaded for a minute and try to Understand; think about what's happening in the world."

"Go to hell!" She turned around and walked out of the room.

I don't think she understood, do you?

Today, Tomorrow and

Today's letter is T - so either Today or Tomorrow would be T words to write about as in live for Today because Tomorrow is not guaranteed. However, I'm going to write about Taming Maria.

This Tale takes place in a part of California that I love, the Monterey area  It's filled with rolling hills and juniper trees with cattle grazing on the hillside and sometimes miles and miles of vineyards producing some of the finest wine. Depending on where you are, you smell the sea air and hear the gulls searching for their next meal.

I can only imagine what it looked like during the time this novel takes place. For those not familiar with this book, it's the story of two Old California ranching families and the temptestuous coming together or Maria Bartola and Juan Cabrillo.

Also, while I'm on the letter T, Blondie had the TEMERITY to complain that I didn't give her a shout out when I did the letter B.  So in honor of Blondie and her area of California (well, within the proximity) you go girl. BTW, in case you are not aware, Blondie and her husband Ty make some of the best wooden paddles available.  Go by and visit.

Taming Maria is available at Amazon.com and  LSF Publications, Inc.

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Now the obvious S word for today is Spanking.  Who of us didn't use this word.  Well for one, me, at least not as my main word.  I chose Serendipity.  I just love the sound of that word.  When I hear that word I think of carefree adventures, like running though a field of fresh mown grass, or through the sand to jump into the water, or riding in a convertible with the wind blowing and the music loud.  Can't you just feel all those things?

Serendipity is also the name of an old movie (2001) starring John Cusak and Kate Beckinsale.

Another S is Smile.  I smile a lot, or so I've been told. I especially love to smile at people who look grouchy and mad at the world.  I've noticed if you manage to get their eye and smile at them, nine times out of ten you will get one back. It makes you both feel better, so go ahead and put that smile on your face.

Before you go, I have to share at least one spanking visual, after all it's what we crave and write about, isn't it?

Q, the dreaded Q

Q as in quick because I'm running out of time and have to get this posted.  How often I put things off til the last because I suffer from shiny penny syndrome.  You know what that is, you're in the middle of doing something and you spot a shiny penny, it grabs your attention AND THEN, you're distracted until you find another shiny penny, AND THEN, you work on that chore until the next shiny penny turns up, AND THEN...

AND so it goes, all day long, so at the end of the day you are Quickly trying to catch up and get everything done because of that first darn shiny penny.

Here it is, pick it up and see what happens.

O as in OMG

I can think of so many things about O but not one thing to write a post about  The first word that comes to mind is Orgasm.  It has been done to death but Oh what a wonderful thing it is. Another O word that comes to mind is Opportunity, and how many of them come by every day and whether you grab them or not determines the road you are either taking or not taking.

 Now I'm stumped.

So often when I'm looking for a word for a puzzle, or in writing and I can't think of the one I'm looking forward, I'll take that first letter and go down the alphabet.  Ususally it will come to me, so here goes.

Saturday Spankings and N

Long May She Wave
USA Flag Day
6/14/14

This is the second half of the month long Blogging Challenge from A to Z and it's also Saturday Spanking. My challenge is to come up with something that will satisfy both. Then, I remembered a New Year's Eve in New York scene in my book Flying High. Okay, so it's a stretch but otherwise I have NOTHING.

FLYING HIGH, my latest release is the story of two people meeting and trying to work out a cross-country relationship. After finding each other, romance blossoms but it is not all smooth sailing. Working though relationship snags, including someone from Derek's past who threatens their new found happiness, Jill and Derek find the road to love isn't always easy.

Today's snippet finds Jill flying to meet Derek in New York City for New Year's Eve. She has arrived first and decides to surprise Derek by donning a sexy outfit.  She hears his key card in the door and spreads herself on the couch in a very welcoming pose. Unfortunately he is not alone and Jill is mortified. After she throws a temper tantrum and gets a spanking for behaving so badly, she apologizes to Derek and says she's glad she will never have to face his friend again.

“Well, that’s going to be a problem honey.”

“Why is that?” she asked.

“Because, Jim is my brother.”

That set her off all over again...  Derek’s brother had seen her practically naked, knew she received a spanking, heard her carrying on about him being there and she had never even been introduced to him!  This was turning out to be the worst New Year’s Eve of her life.

“Derek, why didn’t you tell me?  I am so sorry and I was being selfish and acted like such a bitch. He's going to really hate me.”

“No, he’s not sweetie.  He is going to love you just the way I love you.”

“You love me?” The words filled her head.

J is for Joke

An older lady decided to give herself a big treat for her 70th birthday by staying overnight in a really nice hotel. When she checked out the next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00. She demanded to know why the charge was so high.

"I agree it's a nice hotel, but the rooms aren't worth $250.00 for just
an overnight stay! I didn't even have breakfast."

The clerk told her that $250.00 is the 'standard rate, and breakfast had
been included had she wanted it.

She insisted on speaking to the Manager. The Manager appeared and, forewarned by the desk clerk, Announced: "This Hotel has an Olympic-sized pool and a huge conference center which are available for use."

"But I didn't use them," she said.

''Well, they are here, and you could have," explained the Manager.
He went on To explain that she could also have seen one of the in-hotel
shows for which they were so famous. "We have the best entertainers from all over the world performing here, the Manager said.

"But I didn't go to any of those shows," she said

"Well, we have them, and you could have," the Manager replied.

No matter what amenity the Manager mentioned, she replied,

"But I didn't use it!" and the Manager  countered with his standard
response. After several minutes of discussion and with the Manager still unmoved she decided to pay.  She wrote a check and gave it to him.

The Manager was surprised when he looked at the check.

"But madam, this check is for $50.00."

"That's correct! I charged you $200.00 for sleeping with me," she replied
.
"But I didn't!" exclaimed the very surprised Manager.

"Well, too bad, I was here, and you could have."

Husbands

H - as in Husband. They come in all shapes and sizes. Mine has been around for 40+ years and except for the times I want to kill him, I love him to death.  He can bring me to the heights and pull me out of the depths all the while loving me.  He doesn't see the wrinkles, or the gray hair or what gravity has done but remembers me as I once was and in his eyes will always be.  How wonderful is that?

G is for

Today is normally Saturday Spankings Day but this week it's also a G day in the month long blogging challenge.

How to incorporate both????  Light bulb goes on - the problem is solved.  I'm going with G for gifts.

This scene is from my latest relase, FLYING HIGH.  It's Christmas morning and Derek has given Jill her Christmas gifts.  There were several but he left these two for last.

He handed her a big but very light box, there was no wrapping paper, just a beautiful gold bow.  She carefully untied the bow and removed the top unveiling a large burgundy velvet-fringed pillow.  It was beautiful, but what a strange gift, she thought.  The next present was a long slender box and when she opened this box, her eyes became wide with shock.

Derek grinned, “Get the picture?”

“Oh yes, I definitely get the picture.”

The box contained a beautifully tooled leather paddle, embossed with a rose and her name, along with a card that read:

A gift that will keep on giving when it is lovingly applied to a beautiful lady’s bottom.  Keep the pillow handy because I feel confident it will get lots of use. Love, Derek.

Jill blushed, “Does this mean that spanking me is part of your master plan?”

So I don't count very well. Next week I'll just use six sentences.

If you want to read more about Jill and Derek, or any of my other books, clicking on the titles listed below will take you to Amazon.com
