Saturday Spanks and The Star Crossed Cowboy

Hi there -  December is here and the holidays are lurking around the corner.  Are you stressed yet? No, good for you.  If you are, I have a suggestion.  Why not get a glass of wine, sit back, put your feet up and read. My friends and I are just standing by waiting for you to visit and choose a read that will transport you to another
place.

This week I'm offering you a look into the life of Starr Winslow and Jude Barlow.  If you have ever read any of my offerings you know it's a romance and you know my penchant for cowboys and westerns.  Well, The Star-Crossed Cowboy combines them into one neat little package.  There is lots of fun banter, sparks, sex, spanking and romance, how can you miss?

Starr Winslow becomes the owner of Whispering Pines Ranch after the death of her father. Starr is young and loves ranching and is not about to allow her family's legacy to go to ruin.  She knows some men have a hard time taking orders from a woman and that she will have to hire a Ranch Foreman who can take orders from a woman. Enter Jude Barlow.  Will he be the one?

In this scene, Jude Barlow arrives at Whispering Pines Ranch to interview for the job. Buck, Starr's current Ranch Manager and the best friend of her late father has been staying on until she can find someone to take over and is assisting Starr with the interview. Buck asks Jude how he heard about the job.

“A friend of mine interviewed here a couple of weeks ago.  He told me about it.”

“Obviously, he didn’t take the job.  Did you ask him why?”

“He said there was no way he could work for a woman, and a young, pretty one at that.”

“You are honest. I like that.  So what makes you think you could work for a woman.”

“I was raised by a single mom.  She gave me orders all the time and when I didn’t pay attention, she had me go out back and cut a switch.  I learned some good dance moves as she wielded those switches, but eventually, I got the message and learned to listen to the lady; she cut me no slack.  I learned to respect women, I may not always agree with them, but I will listen to their opinion and then make my decision.”

“Does that mean if you don’t listen I should cut a switch?” Starr asked.

Jude smiled at her remark, and his whole face lit up.  He didn’t look as embarrassed as she felt asking the question.  When she heard it, she couldn’t believe she said it out loud; it was what she was thinking but didn’t realize she had verbalized the thought.

“If you want to see my dance moves all you have to do is ask.”

I broke the eight sentence rule, but I just couldn't stop in the middle.  Do I get a little slack?  If not, just add it to my list naughty list and pass it on to Mistress Blake and Santa.  I'll take my comeuppance.

  2. I have a feeling I'd enjoy seeing a dance step or two from Jake. Then maybe he could return the favor. Sounds like a good man, Starr needs to latch on.
